My Story

Me and my family

Being a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator is so rewarding. Not only do I get to be creative every day, I also get to be a creative coach, offering fresh project ideas and encouragement to my customers and friends.

I am a proud Mom of two grown children. After they left the nest and learned how to be self-sufficient, I found that I had a lot more time on my hands :  Empty Nest syndrome. So I went in search of a hobby that I could do, which would not only keep me busy, but more importantly, keep me fulfilled and provide me with a way to help others.  Finding such a hobby proved to be a bigger challenge than I thought it would be.

About a year later, I found what I was looking for. while visiting my Mom.  Just to set the tone, Mom has tried every craft you can think of since I was a kid. She has made lamps out of plaster, made macrome plantholders, made wedding cakes, decoupaged everything in the house, and she even decorated the windows next to the front door to look like expensive stained glass. She has also been an avid scrapbooker for about 20 years and started making cards about 5 years ago.

Whenever anyone asked me about scrapbooking or making cards, I said ‘Oh no, I am not crafty!”  However, I was and just did not know it. If you make ANYTHING for your home, your kids’ school plays, for the holidays (and) have a pinterest board, then YOU ARE CRAFTY.  wink

So, when I was visiting my Mother and she asked me if I wanted to try my hand at paper crafting, I frowned and said, ‘Um no, that’s okay’.  But then she started to make some cards in front of me and I started  picking at the paper and ribbons, asking her questions. So she handed me a simple kit and told me to mess around with it. Before I knew it, I had made a card. It was not what I would call my best work (LOL) but it was mine and I was proud to have made it.

Years later, I still love making cards and showing others how to make them too.  I love birthdays and holidays because I get to hand out cards and presents. A card can bring a smile to someone’s face, let them know you care and make them feel special. Making people happy is a big high and I am addicted.

For me, helping someone create that perfect project for a special occasion is the best feeling in the entire world. After all, creating cards, scrapbook pages, and gift items is about more than just stamps and ink—it’s about sharing a part of yourself with the people you love.
